| Chris Evans is a successful Western Pennsylvania businessman, family man, and automobile enthusiast. Evans operates several businesses involved in coal mining, natural gas, real estate, and automobile racing – all of which are named after his daughters.
Evans’ story starts with humble beginnings in Indiana, Pennsylvania. His first official job was at the age of 12, where he cut grass, swept floors, and stocked shelves at a hardware store for $2.35 per hour. After graduating from Indiana Area High School, Evans became an F-15 fighter jet crew chief at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia. In 1990, he was honorably discharged as a sergeant. Evans attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) while he began his coal mining career working full-time at Rochester & Pittsburgh Coal Company. He launched his real estate career at the age of 22, when he bought his first duplex with his father as a co-signer and borrowed the closing costs on a credit card. He began his two most recent business ventures in 2004, creating a natural gas development company and Christine Marie Motorsports. Evans has high expectations of making these ventures successful by working, as usual, eight days a week and 30 hours per day.
As a team owner, Evans is no stranger to auto racing. His passion for cars began at a young age as he spent his time buying and restoring classic cars. In 1999, his racing career started when he attended the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving to obtain his SCCA license. It was there he met Chris Cook, a driving instructor at the school. The two formed a friendship that led Evans to create Christine Marie Motorsports. With his passion for driving, Evans would love to be the team’s driver; however, he admits, “Recognizing my talents and his talents, I had to put the best guy in the car, and that’s Chris Cook. I’ve been racing at the amateur level for a few years, and I think I’m a good racer. But I’d equate my racing level to Chris’ like this: I’m an EMT and he’s a brain surgeon. He’s just off the charts.”
In addition to his business responsibilities, Evans is committed to his civic duties. He regularly volunteers at his daughters’ school and gymnastics programs. He is a special committee member of the Indiana County Chamber of Commerce and an Advisory Board Member for Savings & Trust (S&T) Bank.
In his spare time, Evans enjoys traveling with family and friends, amateur auto racing, riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, and collecting and restoring classic cars. His proudest moments include the births of his daughters and when his oldest daughter, as a fourth grader, wrote a story about him being her “biggest hero.”
Evans resides in Indiana, Pennsylvania with his wife Lori and their three daughters, Brittany (10), Brooke (8), and Christine (6).
