Watkins Glen Preview: Zippo 200 Next for Christine Marie Motorsports' Team

Watkins Glen, NY August 9, 2006 -- Chris Cook got a taste of what his team and crew could do on a road course back in March. And now he’s back for more.

Cook will drive the No. 43 VisitPa.com Dodge on Saturday during the NASCAR Busch Series Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International, the famed 2.45-mile road course in rural New York.

This is Cook’s third trip to The Glen for a Busch race, with starts in 1999 and 2005 under his belt. This time around, Cook will pilot the same car he drove this spring during the season-opening Busch race in Mexico City, when he finished 20th, an exciting kickoff for himself and the Christine Marie Motorsports team.

“Without getting too far ahead of ourselves, I think we have all the makings for a great weekend in place,” said Cook. “I’m driving the same car that was solid for me at Mexico City with a couple of test sessions and a few tweaks made to the package since then. It’s got a great body, and Evernham power is really going to be a plus.”

Saturday’s race marks the debut of VisitPa.com as the sponsor of the No. 43 car. Team owner Chris Evans, who was born and raised in Indiana, Pa., couldn’t be happier with the partnership.

“We are thrilled to represent Pa. Tourism,” Evans said. “Not only am I happy to have them on board, but it means a lot because most of my business dealings are in Pennsylvania, and I grew up here.”

Cook, a veteran driving instructor and road-course racer, is in the midst of working with the Christine Marie Motorsports team toward what is hoped to be a season-long run with the Busch Series in 2007. This year, the team has raced at Nashville, Kentucky, and Phoenix in addition to Mexico City, and it is likely to make more stops with the circuit later this summer.

But before Cook and the Christine Marie Motorsports team thinks about next year, they’re concentrating on a solid showing at Watkins Glen.

“It’s a small, hungry team and I think this can be one of those weekends where we can shine,” Cook said. “We’re all digging for a good finish. I think we’ll get that opportunity at Watkins Glen. … Like I said, we’ve got a great hot rod and I have all the confidence in the world. There’s a lot of heart built into this VisitPA.com car. I can’t wait.”

About Christine Marie Motorsports, Inc. (CMM)
